Meet the Fullers…Again!

•January 3, 2012 • Leave a Comment

This energetic family asked me to do their family pictures again! It’s such an honor. This year, we played in the kids’ grandparent’s backyard and they even joined in the fun! This family is so much fun to photograph! They are full of energy and definitely know how to laugh. Enjoy!

So much fun! Let me know what you think!

Meet the Browning Ladies

I was honored to be asked to photograph these ladies! Suzan is an amazing children’s book illustrator and artist and she has passed her many gifts onto both of her girls, Taylor and Jamie. They asked me take these pictures so that they could surprise their husband and dad with pictures for Christmas. I’ve been anxiously sitting on these pictures for a while and I’m excited to let you see them! Enjoy!

Thank you for the great opportunity to spend a morning with you! You are such a generous family with sweet, precious souls! You are a blessing to know.

Leave your comments and let me know what you think!

Meet Morgan & Tara

Last Spring I photographed Morgan and Tara’s wedding in Corpus Christi, Texas with the beautiful and talented Lizzy Grant Photography. The bride’s brother is one of my good friends from my days in Abilene who also managed to talk me into shooting his sister’s wedding.

Tara had told me she wanted to go down to the beach to take their pictures after the ceremony. So I arrived early to go scope out the area and promptly told Kyle (Tara’s brother) that I might not make it to the wedding because the weather was so beautiful I wanted to spend the day on the beach instead! :) I obviously didn’t but it was an absolutely beautiful day for a wedding. Again, I’m posting these pictures several months late but I hope you still enjoy them nonetheless.

Meet Jerry & Cassie

I’ve known Cassie for several years and although I don’t really want to shoot weddings I couldn’t turn her down when she asked. Their wedding was in June. It was an absolutely beautiful wedding in the mountains of Colorado with beautiful details and incorporated so much family history. They were married in the chapel where Cassie’s parents and grandparents were married.  Cassie’s family has a cabin just down the road from the chapel that was built in 1905 by Cassie’s great-great grandfather (correct me if any of those details are wrong). The car they drove away in was Cassie’s great grandfather’s; her shoes were her mom’s wedding shoes and on the mantle in the church were Cassie and Jerry’s parents and grandparents own wedding pictures.

Drawing “something blue” on her foot.

I just LOVE this idea! They found these old Aspen tree logs on the side of the road somewhere, saved them and carved their initials and the wedding date into them. Then they gave them to the florist to fill for their center pieces at the reception. SO creative and unique!!

My Super Sweet 16

Okay so Elizabeth’s party wasn’t on MTV but it seriously could have been! It was complete with a red carpet, logo wall, cocktail area, Cathy Cake, dancing and more.

Elizabeth is one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet and her family is some of the most generous people I know. Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this event. Her party was back in October so I’m a little behind posting these, but enjoy the awesomeness that was her party!

The beautiful birthday girl, Elizabeth.

Sweet 16 – get it?! :)

Cakes by Cathy Young, otherwise known as Cathy Cakes. It was my first one and it was A.Mazing!

Meet the Fuller Family

I had the honor of photographing another one of my families. The Fullers were on the search committee that hired me and we figured out that Dave and I kind of grew up together at Northside. He was more the same age as my sisters but it still made for a crazy small world.

They are a fun crazy family that kept me on top of my game with children that never stop moving. I had so much fun though; thanks for letting me capture your family. Hope you find some you love!

And last but not least…my favorite!

Meet the Perkins Family

I love my new job, and I love this family! They are so sweet, and they gave me the great honor of taking their family portraits. I was stranded in Starbucks for about 5 hours one afternoon, and I literally giggled the whole time I was editing their pictures; I was so excited with the way they turned out. I probably got some funny looks but I didn’t notice because I was so wrapped up in their pictures. This shoot is by far one of my favorites ever, and it reminded me just how much I miss shooting on a semi-regular basis.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

HELLO Blue Eyes!

Brett (the Dad) gave me the best compliment I think I’ve ever received when he saw this picture. He said, “This is our life. Me trying to hold Brady. Ethan loving on Jenny. And Zachary being quirky.” It is every photographer’s goal to capture who you are. It means more than you know that you believe I did just that. Thank you again for the honor of shooting your amazing family. I look forward to watching your boys grow in understanding of the depths of our Lord’s love and plan for their lives.

I’m still alive!

It’s been so long since I’ve updated my blog and much has happened since then. I have actually moved to San Antonio, Texas and am working full time as a Children’s Minister at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ.  Its been 9 months and I’m loving it! But it does keep me incredibly busy and I haven’t had time to do much with this little venture of mine. I have done a few shoots recently that I hope to get posted within the next few months.

Last week I had the great privileged of shooting one of my families from church and it reminded me just how much I miss doing photography regularly. Hopefully, now that I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of this ministry thing (is that every really possible?!), I’ll have the opportunity to do more. We shall see.

But in the mean time, thanks for sticking with me and watch for past shoots to be posted soon!

Paul & Neely’s Wedding Sneak Peak

•November 24, 2009 • 1 Comment

I have to begin with the stories of everything that led up to this wedding…

I have been avoiding shooting weddings for several reasons: 1. I don’t have the equipment yet to adequately shoot a wedding. 2. I don’t have a second shoot. 3. I’m not a huge fan of weddings and I don’t really want to make my living on shooting them! :) But one day this summer I received a phone call from Lauren who shared this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day with me…Neely and Paul had hired a lady to shoot their engagements, bridals and wedding.  To make a long story short, the girl showed up an hour late with her “assistant” in highly inappropriate attire, only shot 35 pictures in 2 hours, and then asked Neely and Paul to go to lunch, they ordered the most expensive thing on the menu and then left before the check ever came.  Needless to say, Neely was mortified. They asked if I would be willing to shoot her wedding.  Despite the aforementioned 3 reasons, who could say no?!

I’ve had migraines for the past 10 years or so.  The Thursday before the wedding came; I packed and prepared and decided to go to bed early. The second I stepped out of the shower a full blown migraine set in, and I ended up in the ER Thursday night.  My severe ones completely wipe me out, even if the migraine subsides, for the next day or two.  I prayed and asked friends and family to pray for energy and a migraine-free weekend. God is so faithful; I woke up Saturday morning full of energy and ready to go.

All in all it was a great experience for me and a beautiful wedding.  I adore Neely’s whole family, and it was an honor to be asked to do this for them.  I pray that God will bless your marriage and your lives together. Alright…enough talking…here’s some pictures from the beautiful day:

Whenever I get married, I want this picture of my mom’s hands (at the wedding I’m not gonna have! :) )

Sexy Momma!!! :)

Brandon was happy about his shoes so we had to show them off!

I love this one! Its so classic vintage! :)

I just love that look on his face! Precious!

And off to the reception

Above, bottom two: Paul and his mom, Carol, were dancing and Brandon wanted to dance too…

Paul sang Neely a song, which I can’t remember at the moment…

Thank you again for the honor of photographing your special day! I hope you find some you love!

Meet Cathy

Cathy is a psychologist in town but unforunately, they are having to move back to Lubbock.  She loves working with young adults (20 somethings, college kids, newly married couples) and she is just one of the sweetest ladies I’ve met in a while.  We’ve been talking about doing some headshots for her website since before Summit (September) and we were finally able to do them this past Wednesday.  She was mainly needing just a couple of her in her office for her website but we stepped outside quickly to grab some before we lost the sun. Here are a few…
